Odd Lot Art Design’s Memorial Gift Services strives to create a unique custom-made remembrance piece that helps you stay connected with your loved one.
The only available memorial gifts to remember your lost loved ones available to you now are resin or glass jewelry with some cremated remains mixed in, a painting with cremated remains mixed in, an engraved memorial plaque, or dried flowers from the funeral service preserved in a block of resin. All these items represent a memory of the end of your loved ones life. My passion is to harness a memory of the person's life and create a truly unique item that reminds you of that memory every time you touch it.
I was at a customer's house sorting through her recently passed fathers basement when I saw a neglected and dust covered 1930 console tube radio in the corner. I asked her about it and her entire face lit up as she told me it was her fathers radio and she had fond memories of gathering around it as a child and listening along with her father.
I asked her if I could do something special with it and she said "Sure, it's just going to sit there collecting dust. I don't have a use for it and I don't have the heart to throw it away."
I brought the radio back to my studio, refinished the cabinet to make it look new, removed the outdated tube radio and replaced it with a Bose Bluetooth stereo system. The piece was absolutely stunning to look at and could produce studio quality sound all controlled by your smartphone or other smart home device like Google assistant or Amazon echo.
As I powered up the system, queued up the requested song Hotel California and slowly unveiled it, She was overcome with emotion and burst into tears. I was able to build that childhood memory of her father into an item that she could incorporate into her life. Think of what goes through her mind every time she listens to it or tells her friends the story.
Odd Lot Art Design was able to create a living memory of her father that she touched every time she listened to the radio.
This table was built using 100 percent reclaimed materials recovered from grandma's house. The centerpiece is an old cast iron heater grate.
